AMFA Educational Trust

AMFA Educational Trust was formed in 2001 to address education and workforce issues in the region, particularly the lack of skilled labor available for manufacturing positions. AMFA Educational Trust is as a 501(c)3 entity eligible to receive charitable donations.  AMFA ET raises and distributes funds in support of projects and programs that promote education in the manufacturing and fabricating trades. Some $191,000 has been raised and distributed during the last two decades.

AMFA ET hosts golf and beverage tasting fundraisers each year – these two events are the primary source of funding for the organization.

Legacy Fund

For post-secondary programs and incumbent worker training

The AMFA Legacy Fund was launched in 2019 for the purpose of supporting and motivating students who are enrolled in a manufacturing program at a technical college located within the AMFA region.  The Fund was started and continues to be funded with endowments from Mike Koppy, a retired machining instructor at Lake Superior College.

Ideally the funds will be distributed by the technical college to students passionate about a career in manufacturing - CAD, machine tool, mechatronics, or welding.

Our goal is to help provide a “Tool Kit” that will not only help students during their education, but also as they enter the workforce. Eligible “tools” range from computers and software for CAD students to a basic toolbox for students in a machinist program. By providing such tools early in the program, we hope to motivate and accelerate the student’s desire to complete the program of study.
